EGCG, a
green tea extract is known to significantly
lower risks of many diseases including Cancer,
Heart disease and Stroke since it contains
high levels of catechins and polyphenols
which are powerful natural antioxidants
that provide health benefits beyond merely
neutralizing free radicals. Much of the
cancer-preventative effects of green tea
are due to epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG,
a major constituent of green tea (240 ml
of brewed green tea consists of 200 ml of
EGCG). Laboratory studies show that green
tea extract protects against and may be
an effective treatment for many common degenerative
diseases and it is being tested as cancer
therapy, especially lung cancer. The green
tea polyphenols consist of EGCG, epicatechin
gallate, epicatechin, epigallocatechin and
other polyphenols. Green tea extracts are
used in many consumer products including
food items (lollipops, drinks and ice creams),
cosmetics, creams and shampoos.
EFFECT OF EGCG SUPPLEMENTATION ON MEDICAL CONDITIONS

CANCER
Lung cancer: (Two
major types, non-small cell
lung cancer and small cell lung
cancer, depending on how the
cells look under a microscope
and each type is treated differently). |
|
Protects against lung cancer in former and current cigarette smokers. Has been shown to counteract both the initiation and promotion of carcinogenesis. Also known to block formation of certain tumors.Sadzuka et al showed that oral administration of green tea enhanced tumor-inhibiting effects of doxorubicin on Ehrlich ascites carcinomas implanted in CDF1 and BDF1 mice.

| Mitigates risk factors associated with heart disease and stroke. Lowers LDL cholesterol and serum triglyceride levels, inhibits abnormal blood clot formation as effectively as aspirin. Antithrombotic effect. |

|
| Known to lower blood pressure. |

| Potent
antioxidant especially in the
brain. Kills bacteria. Protects
against bacterial poisoning,
oral bacteria, bad breath, promotes
friendly bifidobacteria in the
intestines. Lowers risk of osteoporosis,
stroke, liver disease. Has a
deodorant effect. Inhibits viruses,
viral hepatitis. Recommended
for hepatitis patients with
too much iron in their livers.
Prevents and cures diseases
of alimentary canal, respiratory
and influenza. |

SOURCE:
EGCG is naturally extracted from the leaves
of the tea plant Camellia Sinesis, native
to Southeast Asia. Green tea is produced
by rapidly steaming or pan-frying freshly
harvested leaves (to inactivate enzymes)
thereby preventing fermentation and producing
a dry stable product.
CHEMICAL STRUCTURE:

THE MECHANISM:
Plant sterols, flavonoids and suplur containing compounds are three types of micronutrients found in fruits and vegetables. Major flavonoid categories such as flavanols, flavones, catechins, flavonones and anthocyanins are found in tea, onions, soy and wine. Green tea extract consists of high catechins and high EGCG, which are powerful antioxidants known to be more effective than other synthetic antioxidants available in the market (three times more such as BHA and four times more than BHT.)
OTC
NATURAL THEREPEUTICS FROM THE HOUSE OF
NOVO:
Novo's Super Critical Fluid Extraction (SCFE) process, extracts EGCG at its highest level of concentration and purity from its patented process. Novo also offers decaffeinates green tea specially produced through a patented decaffeination process for those who are sensitive to caffeine.
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE:
The recommended daily dose for most people is one capsule per day. Green tea is a known food additive as well. Each capsule contains 280 mg of green tea extract providing about 233 mg of polyphenol catechins (105.84 mg of EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), 43.12 mg of epicatechin gallate, 6.72 mg of epicatechin, 4.76 mg of epigallocatechin, 72.80 mg of other polyphenols)
